ZAMBIA IMF REQUEST FOR AN ARRANGEMENT UNDER THE EXTENDED CREDIT FACILITY (ECF)

Of interest are Zambia’s electricity reforms highlighted on page 21, concerning the state utility’s debt and the anticipated launch of the Cost-Of-Service Study (CoSS) by the energy regulator (ERB) after Cabinet approval. The CoSS will address the issue of electricity tariff with a more cost-reflective regime which will, in turn, encourage more private investment in the energy sector, especially renewables.
